Thread starter Blindbegger Start date Apr 24, Blindbegger Always on Premium Member. Yes recommended. I have photoshop cc when I tried to use lighting effects under filter menu-render-lighting effects it is greyed out.

I looked at edit-pref-performance and checked box use graphics processor and error message said unsupported graphics card. In device manager under display adaptors my graphics card only displays Intel R hd graphics family. This on a laptop only a couple of years old its seems plenty powerful with core i7 processor and 6Mb of Ram I am a bit peeved as lighting effects used to work on my old version of photoshop cl2.

If i click on advanced graphics processor settings tab the use OpenCL and use graphics processor to accelerate computation it is greyed out, also the drawing mode is greyed out. Help please! Should I be thinking about getting a desktop with a better graphics card to use these more advanced effects I was toying with the idea.

I think some effects get greyed out if not on 8 bit Have you tried a graphics driver update from the manufacturers website? Snips Always on Premium Member. Hope you find something as I’m having the exact same problems. Is this all since the last upgrades to CC? Jenbenjen Always on. Jenbenjen said:. Adobe Community Professional , May 22, May 22, The problem with tacking onto the end of an old thread is that things have moved on and the cause of your issue is likely to be different.

If you are using Adobe are updating the core graphics functions in Photoshop. This is driven by the operating systems of Apple and Microsoft in which the old Open GL functions are being removed in the case of Apple, or deprecated in the case of Microsoft.

This means that the graphics functions that have worked for years must be re Jump to latest reply. Regards, Sahil. In Response To Sahil. I have Legacy Compositing ticked. Get to know Photoshop. Common questions about Photoshop. This problem had a strange solution. My driver had been updated as I said above. But it works. Thank you Adobe support whom I finally called. How do you reset the preferences? I seam to have the same problem Nevermind, I found it, and it did the trick for me too!

It’s an Adobe miracle. But I often have to reboot the computer to get it to keep working. When i select lighting effect.. Thanks in advance. I have the same probleme. But when I using WIndows 8. PS app must first be opened in 32 bit mode. You will see ‘Lighting Effects’ on the menu. This will enable lighting effects also be sure you are in RGB color mode! This fixed the problem for me. Sorry, failed to mention this is for Macs only. Also Mojave is latest os I’m aware of but is certainly the last oxs that will support 32 bit apps, so legacy CS users beware!

Resetting settings, profile, and show all and even legacy composite engine etc. PS has been a big fail. Rolling back but i’m in between projects so wanted to try and see if i can figure it out : –New Update So changing to a Quadro P on my i7 X didn’t help and also noticed that 3D lighting, in general, wasn’t working correctly and what i saw on preview was not what i got in render.

Anyway on to the light effects. Still, no go and i even removed Adobe and used the cleaner and reinstalled. I tried all the settings and turned on-off views like UV filter and snap and all the other tricks including use legacy composing engine or whatever.
